Guilty As Charged are a band from Belgium that plays a mixture of heavy and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Leap Of Faith".
A very heavy and melodic old school thrash metal sound starts off the album along with some guitar solos and leads which leads to some aggressive vocals and powerful sounding bass guitars and after awhile clean playing and spoken word samples are added into the music and there is also a perfect mixture of guitar leads and riffs throughout the recording.
Most of the music on the album is in the thrash metal direction of 1988 to 91 and uses a great amount of back up gang shouts and after awhile clean singing can be heard in certain sections of the recording and the band also brings in the melody of traditional metal into their heavier material and some of the later tracks sees the band adding in a small amount of bass guitar leads.
As the album progresses there seems to be an influence from later day Metallica and Megadeth but done in a less mainstream fashion than both of those bands and they also b ring in a small amount of clean and soft playing along with a short instrumental before making a return back to a heavier musical direction on the later tracks while also still bringing a small amount of clean sections on one of the tracks.
Guilty As Charged plays an early 90's style of thrash metal that also has the melody of traditional metal and they also display a great amount of talent and skill a s musicians, the production sound s very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark, political, and real life themes.
In my opinion Guilty As Charged are a very great sounding mixture of thrash and heavy metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Preach To The Masses" "Leap Of Faith" and "Lack of Control". 8 out of 10.
