Matthias Steele are a band from Rhode Island that has been around for 30 years and plays a mixture of power and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Question Of Divinity" which was released by Minotauro Records.
A very hard and melodic sound starts off the album along and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and the vocals are done in a clean singing power metal style along with the music sounding like it could of easily been recorded and released during the early 80's.
Elements of NWOBHM can be heard in the music at times while the solos and leads also remain true to an old school and melodic style and the riffs also bring in the heaviness of thrash and speed metal and they also bring in an instrumental that also introduces clean playing onto the recording while the remainder of the songs have vocals and they also bring in a brief use of grimness on one track and the last 2 songs where recorded live.
Matthias Steele plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in heavy and power metal while also mixing in some elements of thrash, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Matthias Steele are a very great sounding mixture of power and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Question Of Divinity" "March Of The Dead" "It's A Way of Life" and "Supersonic Man". 8 out of 10.
