Cavador Interview
1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Well, some months ago we rereleased our discography in physical format and we are selling quite well, better that expected. Nowadays we are working on new songs for a new album that we hope to release this year. We have composed four songs so far and we hope to finish as soon as possible.
2.How would you describe the musical sound of the current material?
I think it follows the same line as before, fast, aggressive and raw music but at the same time with killer melodies.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?
During the first years we used to write about corruption, social problems, violence, war, death and things like that. We did that because is something that is part of our daily life but at the same time because the bands that we grow up listening to did it before. So it was a kind of automatic-writing-process, we didn’t think much about it. Now, that we are older enough to see other things, we feel like writing more about our personal struggles, thoughts or feelings.
4.I know that the bands name means 'Digger ' in Spanish, how does this name fot in with the musical style that you play?
When you say “digger” in Spanish everyone knows that you are talking about a “gravedigger”, so if it is related with death I think it fits quite well with our music.
5.What are some of the best shows that the and has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
In 2010, we did one concert with the original line-up, we were just friends meeting back and doing what we loved. That concert was full of old friends and people who came to see us, also a well-known guitarist called Claudio Marciello from Almafuerte came to the concert. That was unbelievable, and we were really proud about that. I have wonderful memories of that time, incredible feeling and atmosphere.
6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Yes of course, first we want to record and release our new album and then if everything goes well we hope to play some concerts before the end of the year.
7.A couple of years back the band did some Exodus and Megadeth covers, what was the decision behind during your own versions of these songs?
Back in 2012, we were invited to record 2 covers for a Spanish thrash metal tribute called "Metal Meltdown: Thrashbrute". There was a list with different songs from different thrash metal bands and we chose “A lesson in Violence” and “The Conjuring”. Some time before we realized that we weren’t fully satisfied with the mix and diffusion so we decided to release it again.
8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of thrash metal?
Some time ago we started to work with VladPromotion, so people from different parts of the world get to know our music. The feedback has been great, considering that we are an underground band we have sold lot of albums and received really good positives messages.
9.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?
Yes, I’m currently playing in Aggression from Spain and Stromness from Norway.
10.When can we expect another full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
Well, as I told you before, we are working on new songs for a new album that we hope to release this year. I think that every musician evolves and as time goes by we rid of our own judgments and prejudices. Even though I try I can’t compose in the same way I did when I was 16 years old, so I not sure how Cavador’s music will be in the future.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Well, I have been always influenced by Argentinean metal music, by old Horcas, Lethal also by Iron Maiden and some thrash metal bands like Megadeth or Exodus. I think those are our main influences. Nowadays I’m listening a lot to Black Metal and some Avant-garde bands.
12.What are some of your non musical interests?
Mainly sports and outside activities.
13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
To people who loves metal, I say that even though it has been some time since the last time Cavador played live, we are still alive and we will be back on the stages this year. Thanks a lot for your time and for the interview.
