Adolyne are a band from Saskatoon that plays a very aggressive form of noise rock and this is a review of their 2015 album "Of Ash-Of Shit-Of Shame" which was released by No List Records.
Tragic sounding piano's start off the album along with some violins a few seconds later and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavier noise rock direction along with some aggressive hardcore style screaming vocals that also have a melodic tone to them at times and the riffs also use a decent amount of melody.
When the music speeds up the raw energy of punk rock can be heard while some elements of extreme metal and hardcore can be heard in the heavier side of the guitar riffing and while a lot of 90's influences can be heard in the songs the music still sounds very modern while some songs also bring in a small amount of normal singing.
As the album progresses spoken word parts can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while some later songs also bring in a small amount of clean playing and there is also a few seconds of blast beats being added on a later song along with a small use of violins being added into the cleaner sections and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Adolyne plays a style of noise rock that is very different than most bands in this genre mixing in elements of punk, hardcore and post metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover existential themes.
In my opinion Adolyne are a very great sounding noise rock band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Deserts In My Blood" "Crown" "Gnashing Of the Teeth" and "Brawlers Fracture". 8 out of 10.
