Metal Inquisitor are a band from Germany that plays an old school and traditional form of heavy metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Ultima Ratio Reigns" which was released by Massacre Records.
The album starts out with a very heavy and melodic old school metal sound before adding in clean singing vocals and after a couple of minutes solos are added into the music and after awhile all of the musical instruments start sounding very powerful.
When the album goes into other songs the band sticks to an old school melodic metal sound that is very close to the early 80's along with a good amount of NWOBHM influences being thrown into the music and on some of the tracks to go back to the mid 70's as well as having some fast parts that where the early roots of speed metal and on the last song they bring in a small amount of clean playing before returning to a heavier direction.
With this recording Metal Inquisitor go back to the days when heavy metal was just known as heavy metal and there where so sub genres back then and they take the traditional sound and mix it in with a modern day production to create an album that is 100 percent true metal.
Song lyrics cover life, death and tales, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording along with the last song being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Metal Inquisitor are a very great sounding true heavy metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Confession Saves Blood" "Black Dessert Demon" "Servant of State" and "Second Peace of thorn". 8 out of 10.
