Fragment/Temporary Enlightenment/OPN Records/2013 CD Review

Fragment  are  a  1  man  band  from  France  that  plays  a  mixture  of  extreme  metal,  industrial,  alternative,  ambient  and  shoegaze  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Temporary  Enlightenment"  which  was  released  by  OPN  Records.

Drum  programming  ranges  from  slow  to  mid  paced  beats,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  some  heavy  and  dark  sounding  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording,  as  for  the  synths  when  they  are  utilized  they  bring  a  very  dark  ambient  sound  to  the  recording..

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  to  mid  paced  riffs  that  combine  extreme  metal, alternative,  ambient,  industrial  and  shoegaze  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  with  a  good  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  as  well  as  a  good  amount  of  distortion  and  there  are  little  to  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording, a s  for t he  acoustic  guitars  when t hey  are  utilized  they  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  add  more  darkness  to  the  recording.

Vocals a re  all  clean  singing,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy,  dark  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on this  recording  with  some  of  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Fragment  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  extreme  metal,  industrial,  ambient,  industrial,  shoegaze  and  alternative  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out t his  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Rituals"  "Last  Embrace"  and  "Cold  Monsters".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
