Smoke Mountain are a band from Tallahassee, Florida that plays a mixture of stoner rock and doom metal and this is a review of their self titled and self released 2017 ep.
Spoken word samples and ritualistic sounds start off the ep before going into more of a heavier doom metal direction along with a great amount of retro stoner rock style melodies and after awhile female vocals are added onto the recording and the music also has a lot of 70's influences.
While most of the music has an old school vibe it still captures a very modern feeling and whispers can also be heard in the background at times and none of the songs ever use any guitar solos or leads while bass leads are added on the closing track and the music always remains very slow and heavy.
Smoke Mountain plays a musical style that mixes stoner rock and doom metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover Occultism and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Smoke Mountain are a very great sounding mixture of stoner rock and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Demon". 8 out of 10.
