Argus are a band from Pennsylvania that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of heavy and doom metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "From Fields Of Fire" which will be released in September by Cruz Del Sur Music.
Atmospheric soundscapes start off the album along with some classical guitars a few seconds later and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavier doom metal direction while also introducing melodic guitar leads onto the recording and all of the musical instruments sound very powerful.
When vocals are added onto t he recording they are done in a very melodic traditional metal style and the riffs also bring in a great amount of melody and they also take the 80's styles of doom and traditional metal and give them a more modern feeling and a good portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses acoustic guitars are also used briefly and all of the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction and they close the album with an instrumental track.
Argus creates another recording that remains true to the heavy and doom metal mixture of previous releases, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover death, historical events, literature and misery themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Argus and of you are a fan of doom and heavy metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Devils Of Your Time" "You Are The Curse" and "No Right To Grieve". 8 out of 10.
