Cemetery are a band with members from Illinois and New York and plays death rock and this is a review of their 2016 cassette "Wind And Shadows" which was released by Caligari Records.
A very melodic yet distorted goth rock sound starts off the album along with some drum beats a few seconds later and after awhile clean singing vocals are added onto the recording and the music also starts getting more heavy and you can also hear a lot of 80's death rock influences in the bands musical style.
When solos and leads are utilized they are very dark and melodic and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and all of the songs sound like they could of easily been recording and released 30 years ago and they also add elements of post punk into certain sections of the recording and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length and all of the songs stick to a very slow or mid paced direction.
Cemetery plays a style of death rock that is very heavily rooted in the 80's while also being very dark at the same time, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover dark, metaphysical and poetic themes.
In my opinion Cemetery are a very great sounding death rock band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this cassette. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Justice" "Almond Eyes" "Worms" and "Voices From The heart". 8 out of 10.
