Savage Master are a band from Kentucky that plays a true form of heavy metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Mask Of The Devil" which was released by Skol Records.
A very old school 80's style metal sound starts off the album along with a good amount of melody before adding in some clean singing female vocals and the solos and leads bring in an 1980's United Kingdom metal sound to the bands musical style and on the later tracks the music gets even more heavier with a sound that borders on early power and speed metal along with some back up shouts.
At times the drums can be very aggressive having some elements that are close to blast beats while some of the other tracks bring in a very ritualistic and occult feeling which also sees the vocals getting more aggressive and demonic at times along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
All of the tracks sound like they could of easily been recorded and released during the early 80's with both the production and musical style and the band also brings in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts on some of the tracks as well as always remaining true to a hard and heavy old school heavy metal sound.
Savage Master plays a true style of heavy metal that is pure and retro while also having a more dark and sinister edge than most bands that play this genre, the production sounds very old school yet professional at the same time while the lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Savage Master are a very great sounding true heavy metal b and and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mask of the Devil" "Kill Without Warning" and "Altar Of Lust". 8 out of 10.
