Childbite are a band from Detroit, Michigan that plays a mixture of metal, punk, noise, art rock and sludge and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Strange Waste" which will be released on November 25th by Housecore Records.
A very distorted bass guitar starts off the album being adding in screaming vocals and a melodic noise rock sound that is also very experimental at times along with some solos and leads and you can hear a lot of the early 80's hardcore punk in the way the music id composed at times as well as adding shouts and clean singing into the vocals.
At times the band shows a great amount of talent and skill in the way they compose music and as the ep progresses saxophones can be heard in certain sections of the recording and most of the tracks are very short in length with the longest one being a little over 4 minutes and after awhile more elements of metal, hardcore and sludge are added onto the recording and on the last track acoustic guitars are brought in briefly.
Child Bite takes a lot of many different style of music from metal, hardcore, punk, noise and art rock to create a sound that is very old school yet original at the same time, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover humorous themes.
In my opinion Childbite are a very great sounding mixture of metal, punk, noise, art rock and sludge and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Still Fucked Up After All These Years" "Ancestral Ooze" "Mongoloid Obsession" and "In A Cloud Of blood Bog Infinity". 8 out of 10.
