Will The Thrill are a band from St. Louis, Missouri that plays a hard rock form of 80's metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Sorry To Disappoint Ya".
Clean playing and synths start off the album along with some melodic guitar leads and solos which leads up to more of a hard and heavy metal direction along with some clean singing vocals and the music is heavily rooted in the 80[s and could easily be confused for an album that was released back in those days.
The vocals bring back high pitched melodies that are very rarely used these days and you can hear a bit of the pop and glam metal genres in their musical style and on some of the later tracks clean playing can be heard in certain sections of the recording and the music starts to have more of what was considered a radio friendly metal sound in the 80's.
At times you can hear elements of blues rock in some of the solos and leads and one of the alter tracks brings in acoustic guitars as well as adding in a few power ballads onto the recording and after that the band brings in a good mixture of both hard tracks and ballads and the band sticks more to the early 80's style of commercialized metal than the late 80's variation and it gets the album more of a classic metal feeling which really starts to take over towards the end of the recording.
Will the Thrill goes back to the early 80's style of mainstream hard rock/metal playing a musical style that is very rarely played these days and they also bring in a great amount of catchy melodies into the songs, the production sound s very old school while the lyrics cover real life themes.
In my opinion Will the Thrill are a very great sounding mixture of hard rock and heavy metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I Don't AnSwer to You" "In Your Wildest Dreams" "Now it's broken" and "Sociopath". 8 out of 10.
