1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?
Hi brother, currently we are finishing work on the official video clip for one song from this new album and waiting for LP release of Memento...
Meantime we are receiving a lot of positive reviews and I spend time to meet new people from various zines and web portals and provide them interviews. So nice to meet you, my friend ;).
2.In March you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
In comparison with our first album (called “Svätá Zvrhlosť”) is „Memento...“ quite slower, but there is still our feeling. There are different songs, but from my point of view, it is still music defined Majster Kat’s production. Maybe a really significant difference is in the vocal style. Slymak is not singing so high on the new album.
3.This was the first album to be released in 7 years, can you tell us a little bit more about the long gap?
So it was really a long way and in final we are really happy and especially fully satisfied, that after 7 years we got this album out. Sometimes it was a terrible nightmare, if some band member applied new changes and ideas, which always caused other delay of release. However at the end, all of these implementations were great and personally I am glad for them. The majority of instruments, except of drums, were recorded in our new studio, founded by our guitar player Lukáš and it took as well a much time to learn how to record tracks correctly.
4.The lyrics cover inquisition and anti war themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these topics?
Personally I like war movies & documents, but I can’t consider my person as a fanatic in this topic. All lyrics are written by our singer and he is more deeply involved into war & especially inquisition facts.
5.I know that the band name means Master hangman in English, what was the decision behind using it as a band name?
So, it’s a quite funny, because I have to explain my mistake made in some interviews, where I use incorrect translation of our name. So advise for everybody, don’t try to translate your band’s name if you was drunk one day before, hehe J. But back to question. Correct translation of Majster Kat is Master Executioner. Inspiration for this name was old Slovak movie with same name and also this name is very useful for inquisition lyrics.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
We got two perfect gigs in Poland , in 2008 in Bielsko Biala and 2011 in Katowice. Both of them were absolutely amazing. Perfect service from promoter, wonderful clubs, beautiful chicks everywhere and at the end, excellent fucking support from Polish fans. People made killing atmosphere and what we were really surprised, they sang our lyrics. They totally kicked our asses.
Something about our stage performance. From my perspective it is quite boring & sad. No girls dancing on the edge of stage. J
7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Unfortunately no at this time. We are looking for new opportunities.
8.The album was released on Support Underground, can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
This is a new and small underground label founded especially for our band. Maybe in future they will cover more bands, but at this time we are the only one under this label. And this is a great advantage for us, because we have a really good and friendly relationship with guys from Support Underground.
9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of thrash metal?
Till now we receive only positive feedback, but you know, we are not playing classic thrash metal so sometime people are confused from our style. Especially our production requires more time of listening.
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
Our ambition is only continue in this hobby. We like music, metal music, thrash metal music. So I hope we will still play same shit as till now J
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Each member from our band listens different music, but all of us respect classic legends from each rock & metal subgenre.
In nowadays I like the majority of young bands playing old school heavy or thrash metal. But absolute top for me is Cauldron. I really love this band. Other highlight is for example the last album from Warbringer. There is a nice combination of thrash metal and musical experiments which works together perfectly.
12.What are some of your non musical interests?
Learning new sexual techniques J … no just, kidding. The biggest hobby is my family. … and then new sexual techniques, hehe J
13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Friends, do safe sex and ensure multiple orgasms!
Thank you very much for your questions and place for this interview. And see you in some gig with beers in our hands ;) .
