Black Flag are a band from Washington D.C that is considered one of the first hardcore punk bands ever and this is a review of their 1987 compilation album "Wasted...Again" which was released by SST Records.
The album starts out with a fast punk rock style sound along with melodic vocals and after awhile all of the musical instruments start sounding very powerful along with some back up vocals and shouts as well as a small amount of guitar leads.
As the album moves on the music gets a lot more fast and aggressive sounding while also bringing in melody at times and as the album progresses their later material shows up and shows more of a metal influence while mostly sticking to a more punk direction.
With this compilation Black Flag took some songs from many different time periods and you can hear everything from their more fast punk material to the later material where they slowed don a bit.
Song lyrics cover drinking, partying, and everyday themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound for the time it was recorded and you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion this was a very great sounding compilation from Black Flag and if you are a fan of this band, you probably already own this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Six Pack" "I've Had it" "Annihilate This Week" and "Drinking And Driving". 8/5 out of 10.
