One Last Shot Interview

INTERVIEW
Review: http://undergroundmusickzine.blogspot.fr/2014/12/one-last-shotfirst-gearjust-for-fun.html

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Sky: We are a young French band, from Paris, and we play some kind of Rock n’ roll Metal, cradled by the Southern Rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd, the aggressiveness of Motörhead and the adoration for Gun’s and Roses guitar solo style.

2.In March you had released a new ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
Sky: More than new, it was our “first” EP, so it contains a little blend of several of our musical influences and tastes. As you well described it, I think we took from thrash, hardcore,  stoner,  and southern  rock to create our sound, and there’s some kind of good old rock n’ roll with a modern metal approach and sound.

3.The band refers to itself as 'dust metal', can you tell us a little bit more about this tag?
Sky: It’s a way to describe our spirit, and our love for westerns, and Rodriguez or Tarantino universes. A music for bikers, which smells oil and dust. Maybe we could use “garage metal”  ;-)

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Sky: we talk mainly about our everyday life - booze, bike, girls, music (whatever is the order) – but we feel free to explore philosophical or society-based subjects, like the loss of childhood or the indoctrination.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'One Last Shot'?
Sky: we wanted a cool name, easy to remember and visually strong. Behind that you can find the last shot in a Sergio Leone’s movie, the last drink you take by the end of the night, or the last bang with a girl. It’s about pleasure: enjoy it before it ends.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
Sky: One of our best show was in Paris, at “La Fleche d’Or”. The equipment of the venue was really good, the crowd was on fire and we played for them a god damned show! We love being on stage and play for our public. A lot. And we are really good at that, because our music is dedicated to that, and we work hard for it. We don’t write our songs to put them on a disk, but to play them live. Loudly.  J

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Sky: We have few shows for the future, but we are just beginning the promotion of our EP (we signed a contract with Dooweet), and we hope a lot of people will love it, because that would help us to convince live organizations! :D

8.The ep was released on Just For Fun Records, can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
Sky: it’s a small label with passionate people. They signed an album of our previous band, but the fact is they convinced us to keep going with them by giving us free beers!

9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of both metal and rock?
Sky: you’re the first one on a worldwide level, for now our fans are in France J

10.Are any of the band members involved with any other band or musical project these days?
Sky: 3 of us were in a band together during 8 years, but for now Norge (bassist) is the only one to have another band (Sin And Death)

11.When can we expect a full length album and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
Sky: We’ll try to record a full length album on summer 2015, and we’ll follow the musical path created by our EP.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Sky: Well, it depends on who is answering you… We’re still listening classic rock and metal (AC/DC, Led Zep, Lynyrd, Metallica, Machine Head, old Sepultura, Pantera, etc...), and nowadays Shelby is more on Bluegrass and country, Scarsid loves Djent and progressive Metal, Kmy is fond of a lot of punk-rock band, Norge listens Extreme Metal, and for my part I’ve soften my tastes with rock-metal bands.

13.What are some of your non musical interests?
Sky: it’s not an exhaustive list, but I would say beers, motorbikes and tattoos.

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Sky: Thanks a lot for this interview, and your review. I hope we’ll play in your city and share a beer in a close future.
