Moanaa are a band from Poland that plays an atmospheric
form of post metal with some elements of sludge and doom
metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Passage"
which will be released in September by Arachnophobia Records.
Atmospheric synths start off the album and after the intro the music goes into more of a post rock direction and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and the vocals also bring in a great amount of clean singing and the heavy guitars also takes the music into more of a metal direction.
A great amount of melody can be heard throughout the recording and the solos and leads are done in a very dark yet distorted style and after awhile the vocals start getting more aggressive while also bringing in a touch of hardcore and a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and there is also a brief use of whispered vocals and all of the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction.
Moanaa plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in post metal while also bringing in the heaviness of sludge and doom metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover personal struggles and depression themes.
In my opinion Moanaa are a very great sounding atmospheric post metal band with some elements of sludge and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Process Part 1" "Terra Matter" and Grim Encounter". 8 out of 10.
