Codas are a solo project from New York that plays a mixture of post metal, progressive and industrial music and this is a review of his 2015 ep "Currents" which will be released in June by Crowquil Records.
Distorted sounding noises start off the ep along with some elements of industrial and after a minute heavy and melodic guitars are added into the music and the songs also bring in a heavy influence from progressive music and there are also a few tracks that are long and epic in length and all of the songs are mostly instrumental.
You can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and there are also some psychedelic elements being added into the recording and when solos and leads are utilized they give the songs more of a prog and post metal feeling and one of the songs also brings in a brief use of whispers and spoken word samples and as the ep progresses some of the songs bring in faster riffs and a small amount of blast beats
Codas plays a style of post metal that is very melodic and mostly industrial while also adding in elements of noise, industrial and progressive music to create a sound of his own and the production sounds very professional.
In my opinion Codas are a very great sounding mixture of post metal, industrial and progressive music and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Sun Martyr" and "White black". 8 out of 10.
