Atreides are a band from Spain that plays a very true form of power metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Cosmos" which will be released on April 28th by Suspiria Records.
Dark sounding drones start off the album along with some symphonic sounds before adding in melodic guitar leads that are also a huge part of all of the tracks as well as a great amount of heavy riffing and after the intro the music starts going into a very heavy and modern power metal direction along with some clean singing vocals.
At times the music has a progressive rock feeling along with a great amount of melodic riffing and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and there are also a few tracks that are long and epic in length and at time s the riffs get almost as heavy as thrash and keyboards can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and there is also an instrumental track and clean playing can also be heard in some of the songs and on the last track a brief use of spoken word parts are added into the song.
Atreides plays a style of power metal that is very modern and heavy while also remaining true to the roots of the genre and also bringing in epic structures at times, the production sound s very professional while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover scientific themes.
In my opinion Atreides are a very great sounding power metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cosmos" "Alma Errante" and "Garret". 8 out of 10.
