MF Ruckus are a band from Denver, Colorado that plays a mixture of metal, rock, and punk and this is a review of their 2015 album "Thieves of Thunder" which will be released in April.
A very hard and heavy 70's influenced metal sound starts off the album along with some vocals that are both rough and melodic and after awhile melodic guitar leads and punk influences are added into the bands musical style and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody and you can also hear a lot of classic and southern rock elements being added into the songs at times and you can also hear a great amount of NWOBHM influences in the bands musical style at times and all of the songs sound very diverse while also mostly sticking to a very hard and heavy musical direction while some songs do bring in a brief use of clean playing and the later songs also add in elements of blues and country and the last track also brings in acoustic guitars.
MF Ruckus plays a musical style where they take mid 70's and early 80's metal and mixes it with punk, southern and classic rock to create their own sound, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark, mythological, real life and party themes.
In my opinion MF Ruckus are a very great sounding mixture of heavy metal, rock and punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Thieves Of Thunder" "Hall Of Champions" "We Don't Party" and "Cheatin Up". 8 out of 10.
