Mandragora are a band from Peru that plays a traditional form of heavy metal and this is a review of their 2014 7 inch "First Attack" which was released by Inkas Noise Records.
Black and white horror movie samples start off the ep before going into a mid 70's to early 80's style of heavy metal along with all of the instruments sounding very powerful and melodic vocals and after a couple of minutes back up gang shouting vocals are added into the music along with a heavy NWOBHM influence and the solos and leads the band use are in a melodic and old school metal direction.
A powerful sounding bass guitar starts off the second song before adding in some hard and heavy guitar riffs along with a great amount of melody and vocals and the music continues in the traditional metal direction which was presented on the first track while also having a more rock orientated style of metal being mixed in.
Mandragora plays heavy metal in its truest form going back to the days where metal was just metal and no sub genres like power, thrash, death or black existed but with a more updated take on the classic music style, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover metal, strength and death.
In my opinion Mandragora are a very great sounding traditional heavy metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this 7 Inch. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Lady In Black". 8 out of 10.
