Benchpress Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
The band is called BENCHPRESS and we are a 5 piece hardcore band from Pennsylvania. 2.How would you describe your musical sound? Metallic hardcore. 3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music? Getting your heart broken, hating religion, shitty friends/people. Just the every day push and pull of life on this fucking diarrhea planet. 4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'BenchPress'? It's a thing that you do with weights..... 5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance? The intensity of the German shows we have played has yet to be matched. Stage show? Lots of spinning, stomping, jumping, and our singer wears a backwards hat and completely inverts the microphone and wags his head from side to side. Just kidding, we just headbang and punch shit. 6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future? Yep. 7.Recently you where a part of a split with Martyrs Tongue, what are your thoughts on the other band that had participated in the split? Their songs are fucking amazing. Super talented guys. Axel records all of their stuff and is involved with countless other projects. He lives and breathes that shit. 8.The split was released on Get This Right Records, can you tell us a little bit more about this label? Ran by the coolest motherfuckers on earth. Launched the careers of bands like Full of Hell and Empire of Rats. They are the best label in hardcore and all other music genres. 9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of hardcore? If people like your music, they will tell you. No one really goes out of their way to tell us we suck so I would say 100% positive feedback, worldwide. 10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future? We would love to be a part of the Illuminati and play the super bowl. 11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays? Hardcore, thrash and death. Sepultura, Slayer, Entombed, Dismember, Steel Nation, Cro Mags Hatebreed, Madball, No Warning. Shit like 'at. 12.What are some of your non musical interests? Lifting, screen printing, graphic design, stand up comedy, good beer. Basically grillin, and chillin' and every other aspect of what goes into being in a band. 13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts? I LOVE SELLIN' BLOW
