Cromlech are a band from Canada that plays an epic mixture of doom and heavy metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Ave Mortis" which was released by My Graveyard productions.
Drum beats and a slow, dark and melodic doom metal sound starts off the album which also mixes classic guitars in with the heavy parts at times and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the solos and leads the band brings onto the songs are in a traditional metal style that also brings in a great amount of old school melodies.
When vocals are added into the music they are mostly clean singing heavy metal vocals which also add in some aggressive shouts at times and most of the songs are very long and epic in length and on some of the tracks you can also hear elements of power, speed, and thrash metal being brought into the bands musical style.
When acoustic guitars are added onto the recording they use full chords to enhance the epic side of the bands musical style and they also bring in rain and nature samples at times and after awhile some of the songs start bringing in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the songs also bring in a great amount of bass leads and a heavy dose of NWOBHM in the guitar solos.
Cromlech creates very melodic and epic style of heavy/doom metal with their music adding in some elements of power, speed and thrash metal which also brings in a more aggressive side to the bands musical style, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Literature, History and Battles.
In my opinion Cromlech are a very great sounding epic mixture of doom and heavy metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "For A Red Dawn" "Of the Eagle And The Trident" and "Shadow And Flame". 8 out of 10.
