Tau Cross are an international band that has members from United States, United Kingdom, and Canada with some of them being members of Amebix and Voivod and that plays a mixture of extreme metal, hard rock and crust punk and this is a review of their 2017 album "Pillar Of Fire" which will be released on July 17th by Relapse Records.
Atmospheric drones start off the album along with some nature sounds before going into more of a heavier and melodic direction where you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are presented on the recording while t he vocals are done in a very rough Motorhead and Venom style.
A great amount of crust and post punk elements can be heard in the bands musical style while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic fashion and some of the tracks also bring in a small amount of clean playing and whispers are also utilized briefly and as the album progresses acoustic guitars and clear vocals are added onto the recording and they add in a touch of folk music and one track brings in elements of industrial and symphonic music and most of the songs stick to a mid paced musical direction.
Tau Cross plays a musical style that takes extreme metal, crust punk and hard rock and mixes them together with touches of industrial and folk music to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover 16th and 17th century Occultism, Religion, Mass Control and Subversion themes.
In my opinion Tau Cross are a very great sounding mixture of extreme metal, crust punk,, and hard rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Raising Golem" "Deep State" "Pillar Of Fire' and "What Is Man". 8 out of 10.
