Kroh are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of stoner and doom metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Altars" which was released by Devizes Records.
Melodic choir vocals start off the album and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavier doom metal direction along with some female vocals a few seconds later and the distortion also adds in a touch of stoner metal while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion and as the album progresses sound effects, psychedelic elements and clean playing can also be heard briefly and a couple of later tracks also adds in a small amount of spoken word parts and all of the songs stick to a very slow musical direction.
Kroh plays a musical style that takes doom metal and mixes with some atmospheric and stoner metal elements to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Murder, Madness and Death themes.
In my opinion Kroh are a very great sounding mixture of stoner and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mother Serpent" "Malady" and "Precious Bones". 8 out of 10.
