Amken are a band from Greece that has been featured before in this zine and plays an old school form of thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2016 album "Theater Of The Absurd".
A very heavy and old school thrash metal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats as well as a great amount of aggressive screaming vocals and back up gang shouts can also be heard in the music at times and the riffs also bring in a great amount of melody and the music sounds like it could of easily been recorded and released during the 80's.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the solos and leads also remain true to a very old school style of thrash metal and the riffs are also designed to create some very violent mosh pits and some songs also bring in a small amount of bass leads and the whole album also remains very heavy from beginning to ending of the recording.
Amken plays a style of thrash metal that is very old school and aggressive bringing back some of the heavier side of the Bay Are style, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark, angry, violent and pot smoking themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Amken and if you are a fan of old school thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Theater Of The Absurd" "Wired" and "Addicted To Green". 8 out of 10.
