Presumption are a band from France that plays a mixture of stoner and doom metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 ep "From Judgement To Grave".
A very heavy bass guitar sound, melodic guitar leads and chanting start off the ep along with some psychedelic sounds and clean playing being added into certain sections of the recording and after the intro the band expands on what they established in the first minute and also add spoken word parts onto the recording.
One the heavy guitar riffs kick in the music goes into more of a stoner/doom metal direction along with some vocals that are both rough and melodic at the same time and you can hear a good mixture of 70's, 80's and 90's influences from the doom and stoner genres of those eras but done with a more modern sound and production and they also bring in a great mixture of both heavy and acoustic parts and some of the heavier riffs also add a touch of sludge into the bands musical style and the last track also brings in a small amount of spoken word samples.
Presumption takes the old school genres of stoner and doom metal and mix them together with more of a modern approach to create some very dark, heavy and retro music, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover Hell, Magic, Serial Killers, Hell and War.
In my opinion Presumption are a very great sounding mixture of stoner and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Albert Fish Blues" and "Anvil Devil". 8 out of 10.
