Conclave are a band from Massachusetts that plays a very heavy form of sludge metal and this is a review of their 2015 ep "Breaking Ground".
A very distorted and heavy sludge metal sound starts off the ep along with some solos and leads that utilize a decent amount of melody and also adds in a touch of stoner rock to the bands musical style and the riffs at times can also be very melodic and also incorporates a feeling of 70's doom metal.
Vocals are very aggressive yet melodic at the same time and all 3 of the tracks are very long and epic in length and all of the songs stick to a slow or mid paced musical direction along with all of the instruments sounding very powerful and you can also hear a punk influence in the bands musical style at times.
Conclave plays a style of sludge metal that is very dark, slow, melodic yet very heavy all at the same time, the production sounds very powerful for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Conclave are a very great sounding sludge metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Lifetime". 8 out of 10.
