Cyrence are a band from Germany that plays a very heavy and melodic form of thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2015 ep "The Hospital".
Acoustic guitar playing starts off the ep along with some melodic guitar leads that are a huge part off most off the songs and after the intro the music starts to get a lot more heavy and goes into a thrash metal direction along with some melodic vocals that also have a rough and aggressive edge to them at times.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a decent amount of blast beats and while the music is very heavily rooted in the mid 80's the production gives the music more of a modern day feeling and you can also hear aggressive screams in some parts of the songs.
Clean playing is also brought back at times while the main focus remains on a very heavy and aggressive style of thrash metal which also shows the riffs mixing melody in with the faster riffing and they also add in modern metal influences at times along with a brief use of death metal growls and some of the songs are also very long and epic in length.
Cyrence plays a style of thrash metal t hat h as its roots in the 80's but also mixes in modern elements and a great amount of melody to create a sound of t heir own, the production sound s very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dystopian and violent themes.
In my opinion Cyrene are a very great sounding aggressive and melodic thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dystopia" and "You Kill Me". 8 out of 10.
