Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth are a band from Washington that plays a mixture of sludge, post metal and rock and this is a review of their self titled 2015 album which will be released in February by Neurot Recordings.
A very heavy and melodic sound starts off the album along with some aggressive vocals a few seconds later and the music has a 80's sludge feeling at times and you can also hear hear pitched screams in certain sections of the recording, on a few tracks a small amount of sound effects are added in briefly along with a few tracks that are long and epic in length and the whole album also remains true to a slow musical direction from beginning to end.
You can hear a very heavy doom metal influence throughout the recording and when solos and leads are utilized they are in a very dark and melodic musical direction and as the album progresses clean playing can be heard briefly in some of the songs and they also bring in more of a post rock vibe when they are utilized and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them along with some of the tracks bringing in a small amount of clean singing while one of the tracks bring s in spoken word parts and they close the recording with a piano outro.
Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth plays a very slow style of sludge and doom metal that is very heavily rooted in the 90's due to the band members being all veterans but they add in a decent amount of melody and a touch of post metal to create a more updated sound, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth are a very great sounding mixture of doom, sludge, post metal and rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Empires of Dust" and "I Am". 8 out of 10.
