Metal Machine are a musical project from Germany that plays a very pure and traditional form of heavy metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Free Nation" which will be released on October 24th by Dream Records.
Melodic high pitched Rob Halford style vocals start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction along with some guitar solos and leads and the music is very close to the musical style you can hear on Judas Priest's "Painkiller" or Halford's earlier solos material while the band update it a bit by adding in elements of power, thrash and speed metal.
Spoken word parts can be heard in certain sections of t he recording along with some brutal sounding blast beats and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and on some of the later tracks the band also brings in more of a hard rock approach to heavy metal while also doing it in a more modern day fashion.
As the album progresses clean playing can be heard in certain sections of the recording along with a brief power ballad while the main focus remains on a hard and heavy style of metal and on the 5th track you can hear a little bit of early Alice in Chains in the bands musical style but done in a more true metal fashion while the rest of the album goes back to more of a power/heavy metal direction.
Metal Machine plays a style of heavy metal that is very close to Judas priest in sound but more up to date and the song s are a perfect tribute to the legends of metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness, war, heavy metal, and occult themes.
In my opinion Metal Machine are a very great sounding heavy metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Skull And Bones" "Morning Star" "Lord Of War" and "Free nation". 8/5 out of 10.
