American Heritage are a band with members from both Illinois and Georgia and play a mixture of hardcore, sludge and extreme metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Prolapse" which was released by Solar Flare Records.
A very distorted sound starts off the album before going into a heavier direction along with some aggressive vocals and you can hear element s of both extreme metal and hardcore in the bands musical sound along with some melodies being utilized at times and you can also hear a good mixture of both 80's and 90's influences in the bands musical sound.
As the album progresses you can hear elements of d beat in certain sections of the recording along with some post metal influences while some of the alter tracks shows elements of post and indie rock being added into the music along with a small amount of clean singing vocals being utilized at times and on some of the later tracks a small amount of guitar leads find their way onto the recording and the last 3 tracks are covers of Descendants, Black Flag and Girls Against Boys songs and they take the punk side of the originals and add in the heaviness of extreme metal.
American Heritage cover a lot of ground with their musical style combining elements of sludge, hardcore, punk and post metal together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark, violent and alcohol themes.
In my opinion American Heritage are a very great sounding mixture of post metal, hardcore and sludge and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Eastward Cast The Entrails" "Constant And Consuming Fear of Death" "Hurtin Crue" and "Bulletproof Cupid". 8 out of 10.
