Necromandus are a band from the United Kingdom that has a history going back to the mid 60's and where one of the earliest doom metal bands and this is a review of their self titled 2-17 album which was re;eased by Mandus Music.
Blues rock style guitar leads start off the album along with some heavy riffs that are very heavily rooted in the early 70's era and after awhile doom metal style clean singing is added onto the recording along with some psychedelic sounding organs being utilized in the background and all of the musical instruments sound very powerful.
A decent amount of melody can be heard in the guitar riffing along with the heaviness of doom metal while the music also mixes in a great amount of progressive rock elements and as the album progresses some of the tracks also bring in a small amount of clean playing and acoustic guitars and one of the tracks is an instrumental and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid paced direction.
Necromandus plays a musical style that mixes the doom metal, psychedelic and classic rock styles of the 70's to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and real life themes.
In my opinion Necromandus are a very great sounding mixture of psychedelic rock and 70's doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Alauna" "I've Been Evil" "The Warriors" and "And She Smiles". 8 out of 10.
