Nazareno are a duo from Portugal that plays a drug induced mixture of stoner, psychedelic and gospel rock and this is a review of their 2017 album "Outlaw Monks" which was released as a joint effort between Rot' Em Records and Goblin Productions.
A very heard and heavy sound starts off the album along with some melodic vocals that are done in a stoner rock fashion and touches of doom metal can also be heard at times and after awhile aggressive screams are also utilized in certain sections of the recording and psychedelic elements are also used at times.
Some of the tracks also bring in a small amount of clean playing while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic stoner rock fashion along with some of the tracks being very long and epic in length and gospel style organs can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and some tracks also bring in a small amount of clean playing and some songs also add in elements of alternative and the closing track is an interview with some music.
Nazareno plays a musical style that takes stoner rock, psychedelic and a drugged out version of gospel music and mixes it with a touch of doom metal and alternative rock to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover religion from a Gnostic point of view.
In my opinion Nazareno are a very great sounding drug induced mixture of stoner, psychedelic rock and gospel music and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Seven Mile" "Madalina" and "Outsider Monks". 8 out of 10.
