Heavy Temple are a band from Pennsylvania that plays a psychedelic form of doom metal and this is a review of their 2017 ep "Chassit" which was released as a joint effort between both Can and Tridroid Records.
A powerful sounding bass guitar sound starts off t he ep along with some drum beats and melodic vocals a few seconds later and the music also has a lot of 70's influences and the riffs bring in the heaviness of doom metal while the solos and leads also use a decent amount of melody while also being retro.
Psychedelic elements can be hear in certain sections of the recording and the drums also use a great amount of aggression without ever using blast beats and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length and while the music is heavily rooted in the past the production gives the songs a more modern feeling.
Heavy Temple plays a musical style that takes 70's doom metal and psychedelic rock and mixes them together to create a very retro yet heavy sound, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Heavy Temple are a very great sounding psychedelic doom metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ursa Machina" and "In The Court Of The Bastard King". 8 out of 10.
