Damned Pilots are a band from Italy that plays a musical style that they refer to as 'Post Nuclear metal' which is mostly rooted in doom metal with some groove and psychedelic elements and this is a review of their 2017 album "Overgalaxy" which was released by Sliptrick Records.
Spoken word samples and clean guitars start off the album along with some hard and heavy riffs a few seconds later which also adds in the heaviness of doom metal while also bringing in a great amount of melodic leads and after the intro aggressive vocals are added onto the recording that also mix in regular singing.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and you can also hear a great amount of melody in the guitar riffing and after awhile the vocals start throwing in aggressive groove metal style screams and one track also brings in elements of black metal and psychedelic style synths are also used at times and they also bring in a couple of ballads as the album progresses.
Damned Pilots plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in doom, hard rock and heavy metal while also adding in a touch of black metal and psychedelia to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and real life themes.
In my opinion Damned Pilots are a very great sounding mixture of hard rock, doom, and heavy metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Desert Europa" "Gorguss" and "Hell Is Cold". 8 out of 10.
