Conny Ochs is a solo artist from Germany that has been featured before in this zine and played a doom influenced form of neo folk on the other recording while the new album diplays more of a country/blues rock style and this is a review of his 2016 album "Future Fables" which was released by Exile On Mainstream.
Acoustic guitars which also use a good mixture of both finger picking and full chords start off the album and also gives the music a country rock feeling along with some clean singing vocals a few seconds later and you can also hear electric guitars in the music at times and they also bring in blues influences guitar leads at times.
Drum beats can be heard in some parts of the songs and the guitars also bring in a touch of hard rock at times and some of t he tracks also bring in harmonica's and elements of folk music are also brought into the music as the album progresses and there is also a brief use of guitar slides and the songs also bring in a great amount of diversity along with some pianos being added on a later track.
Conny Ochs creates an album that mixes folk, country and blues rock together along with a very dark and melancholic atmosphere, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark, depressive and real life themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Conny Ochs and if you are a fan of this solo artist, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hole" "Spin" "Golden Future" and "Stange Alchemy". 8 out of 10.
