Algebra are a band from Switzerland that plays an old school form thrash metal with some death metal elements elements and this is a review of their 2014 album "Feed The Ego" which will be released by Unspeakable Axe Records.
A very dark, and heavy thrash metal sound starts off the album along with a good amount of melody being added into the bands musical sound and then the music speeds up a bit along with a small amount of blast beats and aggressive style thrash metal vocals and the lead guitars are very 80's style sounding thrash guitar solos that border on early death metal.
Most on the music focuses on the heaviest style of thrash during the 80's bringing back a style that a lot of later death metal bands took and made heavier and they also bring in a good mixture of both clean and heavy parts as well as a small amount of melodic clean singing vocals being utilized at times.
As the album progresses the band brings in a brief power ballad before returning back to a heavier direction on the following tracks which also show some elements of groove metal in the slower sections of the bands musical style and one of the later tracks shows a bass lead which also adds in some technical elements into the bands musical style.
Algebra goes back to the mid 80's style of thrash metal playing the heaviest style this genre has to have almost bordering on death metal at times while not being in that musical genre and the band also demonstrates a great amount of talent and skill on their musical instruments, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover real life themes.
In my opinion Algebra are a very great sounding old school thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Survival Nowadays" "Necessary Evil" "Feed Me More" and "Monotask". 8 out of 10.
