Coronatus Interview

. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Ada: Just recently we have released our fifth studio album "Recreatio
Carminis", so right now we're excited about all the feedback from

magazines, fans, etc.

2.How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and also how

does it differ from previous efforts?

Ada:On this album we wanted to go back to our roots. That's why we chose the
album title, which means "recreation of the song". So we focused on

catchy melodies and strong hooklines, rather than on technical aspects.

Recreatio Carminis is most likely comparable with our first two albums.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the new release explores?
Mats: This time, we have a lot of different lyrics. For example, “The Monk” is an old fairytale. ”So tanzt!” is a drinking song, ”Towards Horizon” is about exploring new ways in live, “Der Gesandte” might be classified as a story like ‘Jesus, the alien’. “Erhebt die Wogen”, Winterrosen” or “Sternenstaub” deals with religious or mystical items. “Schwester” tells about transitoriness in general, and so on.

4.I know that the band name means Crowned in German, what was the
decision behind using it as a band name?
Mats: More exactly, it means “the crowned one”. In former times, most of our lyrics dealt with does religious-mystical themes. George, who was the initiator of Coronatus before he left the band, wrote most of his lyrics in that sense.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and
how would you describe your stage performance?
Ada: I think we've had our best shows on tour with Haggard in spring 2011.
It was the first time that me (Ada) and Mareike performed on stage
together. It was like an explosion and we and the crowd had lots of fun.

6.Do you have any touring plans for the new album?
Ada: We'd like to play tours of course and festivals. But right now there are
no specific plans yet.
Mats: Best for us would be another support tour like we did for Haggard for another well-known band from this genre. We hope that there will be a possibility to go on tour in 2014.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans
of gothic metal?
Mats: As far as I am able to survey the reactions, they are very wide spread. Obviously we are a very polarizing band. It is a love it, or hate it thing…but as I am concerned, this is much better, than being everybody’s darling.

8.Are there any other musical projects besides this band?
Ada: Some of our members play in other bands or have musical projects
besides Coronatus. But we don't have another project all together.

9.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

Mats: Actually, I don ‘t know right now. When we do the songwriting for the next album this question will be answered by itself. I do not follow a master plan or a a certain direction.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your

music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Ada: I can only speak for me and what influenced my musical style. The most
important band for me was Evanescence, introducing me to the gothic

scene. Nowadays I listen to all kinds of metal and hardrock.

11.Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Ada: As we all have a fulltime job, there's not too much time for interests
that do not concern music. I can say for me there's really no other

interest but making or writing music.

12.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Ada: Thanks for having this interview with us and enjoy our new album!
