Chastain are a band from Ohio that has been around for a long time with a musical style I would describe as being progressive power/thrash metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Surrender To No One" which was released by Leviathan Records.
"Stand And Fight" which is also the first track on the album starts up with heavy and melodic sounding guitar riffs and leads along with some drums and you can also hear the bass guitars in the background and then the aggressive power metal vocals kick in and after a couple of minutes guitar leads start coming in and out of the song as well as some back up shouts.
"Call Of The Wild" opens up with melodic guitar riffs and drums before getting heavy and then adding in some vocals and after a couple of minutes guitar solos and leads start coming in and out of the song and you can also hear the bass guitars in the background.
"Deep Down In Darkness" begins with heavy guitar riffs and drums before going into a more thrash direction along with some powerful bass guitars and then mixing in some power metal vocals and as the song moves on the guitar leads start coming in and out.
''Freedom Within" starts up with some old school metal guitar riffs and drums and then the melodic vocals kick in as well as the guitar riffing utilizing some melody and after a couple of minutes the bass starts getting more powerful along with a brief blast beat before adding in the guitar solos along with some back up vocals.
"I Am Sin" hits off with some dark and melodic guitar and bass riffs start start getting heavier when the drums and vocals kick in and a minute later the guitar leads start coming in and out of the song.
"Rise Up" kicks off with heavy guitar riffs and drums and a few seconds later the vocals kick in and the song moves more into a classic metal direction along with some melodic guitar riffing before adding in some solos.which also leads up to a small amount of back up shouts.
"Evil Awaits Us" comes in with some guitar solos and leads along with some drums and bass before adding in some heavy guitar rhythm's and melodic vocals as well as the riffing utilizing some melody and after a minute the solos and leads make their return and start coming in and out of the song.
"Fear My Wrath" makes its way in with heavy guitar riffing and drums along with some vocals a few seconds later and after a couple of minutes there are some guitar solos and leads being utilized throughout the song.
"Save Me Tonight" brings it way in with some melodic guitar leads before adding in some drums and heavy guitar riffs which also lead up to some vocals and thrash elements and then t he song alternates between clean and heavy parts along with the guitar riffing utilizing some melody and then t he guitar leads and solos make their return in the song.
"Surrender to No One" is introduced with heavy guitar riffs and drums before adding in some thrash influences and vocals and after awhile the bass guitars start utilizing more power and towards the end the guitar solos and leads start coming into the music and the song closes with a blast beat.
"Bleed Through Me" which is also the last song on the album begins with some dark sounding synths and melodic vocals and a minute later heavy guitar riffs and drums start coming in along with some melodic riffing before adding in some guitar solos and leads.
Song lyrics cover darkness, fantasy and life themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Chastain and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Stand And Fight" "Freedom Within" "Evil Awaits Us" and "Surrender to No One'. RECOMMENDED BUY.
