Satanic Malfunctions/Them/Selfmadegod Records/2013 CD Review

Satanic  Malfunctions  are  a  band  from  the  United  Kingdom  that h as  a  history  that  goes  back  to  the  80's  with  a  musical  style  i  would  describe  as  being   hardcore/crust  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Them"  which  was  released  by  Selfmadegod  Records.

"Nothing  New" begins  with  drums  and  bass  guitar  riffs  which  leads  up  to  some  hardcore  punk  style  guitar  riffs  and  aggressive  shouting  vocals   and  there  are  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  towards  the  end.

"Them"  begins  with  some  crust  punk  style  guitar  riffs  and  drums  which  lead  up  to  some  powerful  bass  guitars  and  vocals  which  also  utilize  some  background  shouts.

''Daze  Of  The  Weak"  begins  with  some  fast  guitar  and  bass  riffs  along  with  some  drums  and  then t he  song  slows  down  for  a  few  seconds  and  adds  in  vocals  before  speeding  up  which  also  leads  to  a  brief  use  of  growls.

"No  Master  or  Slaves"  begins  with  some  guitar  riffs,  drums  and  hardcore punk  style  vocals.

"On  Your  Knees"  begins  with  some  guitar  riffs,  and  drums  which  leads  up  to  some  vocals  and  then  the  music  speeds  up  and  starts  adding  in   some  blast  beats.

"Lies"  begins  with  some  heavy  guitar  riffs  and  drums  before  adding in  some  blast  beats  and  aggressive  sounding  vocals.

''Gospel  Truth"  begins  with  some  heavy  guitar  and  bass  riffs  along  with  some  drums  and  a  few  seconds  later  the  vocals  start  kicking  in  and  bring  in  some  aggressive  crust  elements.

''Pissed  And  Angry"  begins  with  some  guitar  riffs,  drums  and  vocals  and  then  the  song  starts  speeding  up  a  bit.

"Beatings"  begins  with  some  heavy  guitar  and  bass  riffs  along  with  some  drums  and  aggressive  sounding  vocals  before  going  into  a  faster  direction  and  adding  in  some  blast  beats.

"Disorder  Rule"  is  a  21  second  long  crust  punk  song.

"Trappings  Of  Faith"  begins  with  some  guitars,  bass  and  drums  along  with  some  hardcore  style  vocals  a  few  seconds  after.

"Rules  &  Regulations"  begins  with  some  heavy  bass  guitars  and  drums  before  adding  in  some  vocals  and  regular  guitars.

"Dealing  Out  Death"  begins  with  some  primitive  guitar  riffs,  drums  and  shouting  vocals.

"Anthem"  begins  with  some  powerful  bass  playing  and  drums  before  adding  in  some  vocals  and  then  the  music  starts  utilizing  some  blast  beats.

"Another  Fiction"  begins  with  heavy  guitar  riffs,  fast  drums  and  aggressive  vocals.

"On  The  Cusp"  begins  with  some  heavy  guitar  riffs,  drums  and  vocals  with  the  music  being  all  old  school  crust  punk/crossover  and  towards  the  end  there  are  some  powerful  bass  guitars  being  utilized.

'Everything's  Digital"  begins  with  some  drums  and  powerful  bass  guitars  which  leads  up  to  some  heavy  guitar  riffs  and  aggressive  vocals.

"Do You  Know  Who  You  Are"  begins  with  some  heavy  guitar  riffs  and  drums  before  adding  in  some  vocals  along  with  some  faster  riffing  as w ell  as  the  song  switching  back  and  forth  between  slow  and  fast  parts.

'Many  Go  Round"  begins  with  some  heavy  guitar  and  bass  riffs  along  with  some  drums  before  going  into  a  faster  direction  and  adding  in  some vocals.

Song  lyrics  cover  social political  themes,  while  the  production  has  a v ery  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  old  school  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  Satanic  Malfunctions  are  a  very  great  sounding  hardcore/crust  punk  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Nothing  New"  "No  Masters  Or  Slaves"  "Trappings  Of  Faith"  and  "Do  You  Know  Who  You  Are".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
