Beehoover are a band from Germany that plays stoner/doom metal with only vocals, bass and drums and this is a review of their 2013 album "The Devil And His Footmen" which was released by Exile On Mainstream.
"Monolith" begins with some heavy bass guitars that utilize some melody and drums and then the melodic clean singing doom metal vocals start kicking in and a couple of minutes into the song there are some sludge style screams being utilized briefly.
"Egoknights and Firearks" begins with some 70's style hard rock/metal bass guitar riffs and drums and after a few seconds the melodic vocals start kicking in and the song stays in a slow direction till the end.
"Rooftop" begins with some heavy bass guitar riffs and drums and a few seconds alter the melodic vocals start kicking in and after a couple of minutes the music goes into a cleaner direction along with some psychedelic sounds for a few seconds before getting heavy again.
"Interlude # 1" begins with some drone and distorted sounds along with some drum beats and the song is a short instrumental.
"Boy Vs Tree" begins with some tribal style drumming and heavy and melodic bass guitar riffs and after a few seconds the vocals start making their presence known in the song and the song only uses slow riffing.
'Interlude # 2" begins with some bass guitar riffing and background sound effects which alos lead up to a brief use of vocals.
"Morning Sun" begins with a shout before the bass guitars, drums and vocals start kicking in along with some melodic elements being utilized and after awhile the bass riffing starts utilizing some classic rock elements.
"Interlude # 3" begins with some distorted sounds.
'Dear Mammoth" begins with some stoner rock style bass guitars and then the drums and vocals start kicking in and as time goes on by the music gets more diverse along with a brief use of screams being utilized.
"My Mixtapes Suck Big Time" begins with some heavy bass guitar riffs and drums and after a few seconds the vocals make their presence known in the song with a combination of clean singing and screams.
"Honeyhole" begins with some silence and then adds in some synths and psychedelic drone sounds and after a couple of minutes the drums and bass guitars make their way into the song along with some melodic vocals a few seconds after and towards the end aggressive sounding screams are utilized.
Song lyrics cover dark themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy, old school and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Beehoover are a very great sounding stoner/doom metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Monolith" "Morning Sun" and "Honeyhole". RECOMMENDED BUY.
