Scorn/Lick Forever Dog/Earache Records/1994 CD Review

Scorn  are  a  band  from  England  that  mixed  heavy  industrial  metal  with  ambient  dub  on  this  recording  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1994  ep  "Lick  Forever  Dog"  which  was  released  by  Earache  Records.

Drum  programming  are  all  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  beats,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  through  a  good  portion  of  this  recording,  as  for  the  synths  they  bring  a  very  heanting  and  dark  ambient  dub  sound  to  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  noise  rock  and  industrial  metal  together  with  a  good  amount  of  distorted  parts  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present on  this  recording.

Vocals  range  from  spoken  word  parts  and  samples  to  clean  signing  gothic  vocals,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  this  was  a  great  recording  from  Scorn  that  contained  a  little  bit  of  their  original  sound  while  venturing  into  the  direction  they  would  get  known  for  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  probably  already  own this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "On  Ice  (Disembodied  In  Dub)"  and  "Heavy  Blood(The  Blood  Fire  Dub)".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
