Darsombra/Climax Community/Exile On Mainstream/2012 CD Review

Darsombra  are  a  band  from  Maryland  that  plays  transcendental drone/rock t hat  utilizes  the  heaviness  of  sludge/doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Climax  Community"  which  was  released  by  Exile  On  Mainstream.

Soundscapes,  loops  and  samples  bring  in  drone  sounds  to  the  music  which  are  influenced  by  experimental,  prog,  psychedelic  and  krautrock,  while  the  rhythm  guitars  are  all  slow  riffs  that  combine  drone,  doom  and  sludge  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of t heir  own  with  a  good  amount of  heavy  distortion  and  time  changes  in  the  riffing,  as  for  the  lead  guitars  they  have  a  70's  rock  feeling  to  them  along  with  a  brief  use  of  acoustic  guitars  which  bring  a  more  70's  folk  rock  sound  to  the  music.

Vocals  are  all  clean  singing  chanting,  while  the  song  themes  cover  darkness,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw,  primitive  and  heavy  sound  to  it  while  you  can  hear  all  of t he  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording  in  addition  the  songs  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Darsombra  are  a  very  great  sounding  trancendental  drone  rock/sludge  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Roaming  The  Periphery".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
