Tommy Stewart's Dyerwulf are a duo from Georgia that plays a traditional form of doom metal and this is a review of their self titled 2017 album which was released by Soman Records.
Distorted amp sounds start off the album along with some powerful sounding bass guitars that takes the music into a doom metal direction as well as being the lead instrument on the recording with no 6 strings ever being utilized while drums are still a very huge part of the album.
Vocals are done in a very melodic epic doom metal tradition and the music has a lot of roots in both of the 70's and 80's while still maintaining a very modern day feeling and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while also adding some dark sounding melodies in the bass riffing and they also bring in a cover of The Monkees's "Purpoise Song" while a later track is all instrumental and thy also keep everything in a slow musical direction.
Tommy Stewart's Dyerwulf plays a style of doom metal that is very traditional and goes back to the 80's style of the genre, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion Tommy Stewart's Dyerwulf are a very great sounding traditional doom metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lilith Crimson Deep" "Porpoise Song" and "Through A Dead Man's Eye". 8 out of 10.
