Death The Leveller are a band from Ireland that plays an epic form of doom metal and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2017 ep.
A very distorted sound starts off the ep before going into a heavier direction as well as introducing melodic guitar leads onto the recording and after awhile clean singing vocals are added onto the recording and the music is heavily rooted in the 80's but still having a modern day feeling.
A decent amount of melody can be heard in the guitar riffing and all of the tracks are very long and epic in length and you can also hear some other Irish influences in the bands musical style at times and all of the songs stick to a very slow musical direction and clean playing is added onto the closing track briefly and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them
Death The Leveller plays a style of epic doom metal that is very much rooted in the 80's style while still having a more modern feeling, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover death, poetry, and life themes.
In my opinion Death The Leveller are a very great sounding epic doom metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Gone Forever Fixed" and "How To Break Pernicious Spells". 8 out of 10.
