Ohio's Fistula have returned with a new recording t hat continues the sludge metal and hardcore mixture of previous releases and this is a review of their self released 2016 album "The Shape Of Doom To Cumm))".
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album before going into a fast hardcore direction that also introduces screaming vocals onto the recording as well as some d beat elements and the slow riffs bring in the heaviness of sludge and you can also hear a decent amount of melody in the guitar riffing.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a small amount of blast beats and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are presented on the recording and when guitar leads are utilized they bring in a very dark, distorted yet melodic style and some of the tracks are very short in length and the album also remains heavy from beginning to ending of the recording and there is also a brief use of spoken word samples.
Fistula creates another recording that remains true to the hardcore and sludge mixture of previous releases, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark and angry themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Fistula and if you are a fan of hardcore and sludge, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Serial Vapist" "Tough Guy" and "Negative". 8 out of 10.
