Heavy Baby Sea Slugs are a band from Texas that plays a mixture of sludge, doom metal and noise rock and this is a review of their 2016 7 inch "The Minotaur/Tout Fishin' Man" which was released by Heavy Baby Records.
A very slow and heavy stoner/doom metal sound starts off the ep and after a few seconds screaming style sludge vocals are added onto the track and while the song has a lot of retro elements it still sounds very modern and the first track sticks to a very slow musical style.
On the second track the music starts out with a very fast and melodic noise rock style while also bringing in the energy of punk rock and the song is also all instrumental while sticking to either a fast or mid paced direction.
Heavy Baby Sea Slugs creates 2 very diverse songs with the first one being in more of a stoner, doom and sludge style while the second one is all instrumental and done in a melodic noise rock style, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Heavy Baby Sea Slugs are a very great sounding mixture of sludge, doom metal and noise rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Minotaur". 8 out of 10.
