Zed are a band from San Jose, California that plays stoner rock and this is a review of their 2016 album "Trouble In Eden" which will be released in August by Ripple Music.
A very hard and heavy stoner rock sound starts off the album along with a decent amount of melodic riffing and clean singing vocals and the music also mixes in a great amount of retro influences from the 70's up to t he 90's in with a more modern approach and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
At times the music brings in a desert like atmosphere while t he solos and leads also remain very true to a retro rock style and some of the riffs also mix in the heaviness of doom metal while some tracks add in touches of blues and southern rock and one track also brings in country style steel guitars and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid paced musical direction and the last track is very long and epic in length.
Zed plays a style of stoner rock that also brings in a touch of doom and proto metal which makes their songs stand out a bit more, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover religious fulled tragedy, societal reflection, struggles with mental anguish, loss and perseverance themes.
In my opinion Zed are a very great sounding stoner rock band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Royale" "Today Not Tomorrow" "So Low" and "The Mountain". 8 out of 10.
