Skurk are a band from Iceland that plays a very old school form of thrash metal and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Final Gift" which was released by Inconsistency Records.
Nature sounds start off the ep before going into a more heavy and melodic musical style where you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and the solos and leads also bring in a great amount of melody and the vocals are also very aggressive while also mixing in a touch of power metal.
Most of the music is rooted in a mid 80's style of thrash metal and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and there is also a brief use of clean playing and all of the songs sound like they could of been recorded and released more than 25 years ago.
Skurk plays a style of thrash metal that is very old school while also being very aggressive and melodic at the same time, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover death, society, religion and Satanism themes.
In my opinion Skurk are a very great sounding melodic thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Final Gift" and "Chaindead". 8 out of 10.
