Sarabante are a band from Greece that plays a mixture of crust, d beat and hardcore punk and this is a review of their 2016 album "Poisonous Legacy" which will be released in June by Southern Lord.
A very heavy sound along with melodic guitar leads start off the album before going into a very fast crust punk direction along with some aggressive hardcore style vocals and the drums also use a great amount of d beats and you can also hear a great amount of melody in the guitar riffing and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and most of the songs are very short in length and the music goes for more of a modern crust style that also brings in a touch of post hardcore and they also bring in a brief instrumental track while another song brings in spoken word samples along with a brief use of clean playing before returning back to a heavier direction while acoustic guitars also appear for a few seconds along with clean playing making a return on the last track.
Sarabante plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in d beat and crust punk while they also mix it in with the more modern style of hardcore to update the genre for modern days, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of Greek and English and cover oppression and the ongoing crisis in their home country.
In my opinion Sarabante are a very great sounding mixture of d beat, crust punk and hardcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "All That Remained" "Eternal Complacency" "Mass Grave" and "Black thorns". 8 out of 10.
